Circus 2 is a work from the series Lucky Irani Circus. Set against the barren, peripheral
landscape of South Punjab, the work features a quiet choreography of floating shoes
and wooden chairs. These chairs found everywhere from government offices to
school rooms, carry associations with both authority and its absence.
As the chairs and shoes drift, collide, and interact mid-air, their movement evokes the
uneasy proximity between power and mobility. By displacing these familiar objects
from their usual contexts, the animation invites reflection on the roles they occupy,
and what their wandering presence might suggest about dislocation, hierarchy, and
collective memory.
